Late Thursday evening, Elon Musk challenged Boeing CEO, Dennis Muilenburg to a race to the Red Planet. Responding to a Fortune Tech Twitter post describing how Muilenburg had stated in an interview that, “We’re Going to Beat Elon Musk to Mars”, Musk simply replied, “Dot it”.

The interview referred to in the Fortune Tech article was featured on CNBC on Thursday morning. During the show, host Jim Cramer asked the Boeing CEO if the aerospace titan or Musk’s SpaceX would, “get a man on Mars first.” Muilenburg, as he has before, responded by stating, “Eventually we’re going to go to Mars and I firmly believe the first person that sets foot on Mars will get there on a Boeing rocket.”
Musk also made headlines earlier this week announcing that the Falcon Heavy’s maiden mission would launch a Tesla to Mars. Although verified by sources within SpaceX, the exact details of the mission are yet to be announced.
Update
Boeing’s official twitter handle responded to Elon and it would seem that Space Race 2.0 is happening!
Game on!
